BLAIR ESTATE

Over the course of its illustrious history, the Blair Estate has maintained its status as one of the most legendary estates in Hollywood. Completely hidden from the street, a long, gated driveway leads to a sprawling 1+ acre park-like haven. Originally built in 1924 by George H. Fruehling for the renowned developer, John H. Blair, this masterful estate was crafted with the intent to showcase the best of Spanish Mediterranean architecture to a newly developing Los Angeles. Featured in Architectural Digest in 1926, 90 years later on the cover of Anthony Ianacci’s book “Hollywood Interiors”, and within countless publications in between, the enduring appeal of this timeless estate is undeniable.

Extensively remodeled by architect Linda Brettler, who specializes in historic restoration, thoughtful period-appropriate renovations blend seamlessly with the estate's historical details and character. The grand rooms on the main level open up to a magnificent wrap-around patio that merges the indoors with the estate's spectacular grounds. Upstairs, 4 generously proportioned bedrooms include a primary suite with a ~400 sq ft terrace, and offer breathtaking views of the city. Each bathroom boasts custom, hand-made tile work crafted exclusively for the estate, replicating the designs of the 1920s with exquisite attention to detail.

Mature trees, a manicured lawn, and meandering pathways are complemented by a pool, grotto, koi pond, and multiple terraces, making this estate a true oasis that feels a world away from its central location in the Hollywood foothills.
